John Calvin Hussey

I’m a photographer, artist, and writer living in Southport, North Carolina.

Much of my work begins with something ordinary. It might be a place along the coast, a family moment, a shared experience, or a story that might otherwise be forgotten. Over time, I realized that my art and writing both help me preserve the moments, places, and relationships that matter to us.

I wrote Tending What Matters to explore how love, mattering, and belonging show up in our lives. Writing the stories helped me recognize those things in my own life. I hope they help readers recognize them in theirs.

Through Stories of Southport, I’m bringing my writing and artwork together to tell stories about the town I call home.
